Travelling to Tanzania

This was a trip to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We have been to Tanzania many times but don’t always have the time and finances to do a safari so this was a special trip for us.

We had booked our safari with Ben at eTrip Africa who we have used before and have always organised great trips for us. On this trip we will be staying for 3 nights in Tarangire National Park, 2 nights at Lake Natron, 3 nights in the Northern Serengeti, 4 nights in the Central Serengeti and 1 night in Karatu before returning to Arusha.

Because it was a special trip we treated ourselves and flew Business Class from London Heathrow to Kilimanjaro via Nairobi with Kenya Airways. The flights were great and I have to say I could get used to Business Class.

We arrived at Kilimanjaro at about 9.15 in the morning. We were some of the first people off the plane so quickly got our visa on arrival and picked up our bags.

On exiting the airport we were met by Colin our taxi driver who drove us to Researchers Rest Guest House in Arusha, our home for the next 2 days.

It took about an hour and a quarter and we were met by Joseph on arrival. We have stayed at Researchers Rest before, it is a real home from home. We had the same room as before so quickly settled in.

We didn’t do much for the next couple of days other than catch up on sleep, eat the delicious meals cooked by Joseph and Eddie, chat with other guests staying there and get ready for our safari.
